FitGene Privacy Statement

At FitGene, protecting your privacy is our highest priority.
This Privacy Statement applies to all websites owned by FitGene, including www.fitgene.ba and any related services or apps.

 

2. The information FitGene collects

We collect Personal Information that identifies or is about you:

  • Registration Information: Name, user ID, password, date of birth, billing and shipping addresses, payment info, and contact info.
  • Genetic Information: Details about your genotype.
  • Sample Information: Details about samples you submit.
  • Self-Reported Information: Information you provide about gender, health, traits, ethnicity, family history, etc.
  • User Content: Information generated by users and shared publicly or privately.
  • Web-Behavior Information: Data on how you use our services collected through log files, cookies, etc.

Aggregate Information is not Personal Information as it cannot identify a specific individual.

  • You: Through account registration, purchase of services, surveys, forums, etc.
  • Service Providers: Using technologies like cookies and analytics tools.
  • Other Third Parties: From referrals or shared accounts.
  • FitGene: Inferring information from collected data.

FitGene processes data to provide customer support during and after the purchase process, and subsequently creates statistical data on purchases for market research and to improve the sales process. These statistical data cannot be used to identify the individual who made a particular purchase through FitGene.
Bank account data used by customers to make purchases are protected by encryption and are anonymized. Therefore, FitGene does not have access to these categories of customer personal data.

 

We are committed to provide service of protection of our customer's personal data in a way that we collect only essential basic information about our buyers that are necessary for fulfilling our obligations. We also inform our customers about the way we collect information and regularly give customers an option about how their information will be used, including the possibility to decide whether their name should be included or omitted from the lists used for marketing campaigns.


All user information is strictly guarded and are available only to the employees who need that information for completing the job.
All our employees and business partners are responsible to follow the principles of confidentiality protection.

 

5. FitGene Research participation

If you choose to participate in any existing or future FitGene Research, your de-identified Genetic and Self-Reported Information may be used to discover genetic factors behind diseases and traits. Participation is voluntary and can be withdrawn anytime.

 

6. Data sharing

We share your information with:

  • Service Providers: For order fulfillment, sample processing, customer support, etc.
  • Your sharing choices: With those you direct us to share.
    Affiliates and in case of ownership change: During mergers, acquisitions, or reorganizations.
  • Law enforcement: Only with a valid court order, subpoena, or search warrant.

We do not share your Personal Information with:

  • Public databases
  • Insurance companies or employers
  • Law enforcement without legal authority

 

7. Your privacy settings and controls

  • Destroying your sample: No sample will be stored more than the time necessary to conduct the testing and analysis and would be destroyed within [4 weeks] thereafter. This is ensured through contractual obligation with each partner laboratory.
  • Viewing health reports: Optional if you prefer your reports to be also delivered in printed hard copy.
  • Sharing features: Sharing your reports are at your full discretion and will have to be done by you personally.
  • Personalized recommendations: Optional to receive or not to receive.
  • Communications preferences: Optional to be contacted or not to be contacted.
  • Research participation: Optional to participate or not to participate.

 

8. Other privacy information

  • Security Measures: We take steps to prevent unauthorized access but protecting your data is also your responsibility.
  • Third Party Content: We are not responsible for third-party services linked to ours.
  • Jurisdiction-Specific Information: You may have specific privacy rights based on your location.
  • Retention of Personal Information: We retain data as long as necessary to provide services, comply with laws, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements.
